Project Buchanan

July 17-31 2010

Peaks for a Purpose is directing all of the money
raised on our inaugural climb of El Pico de Orizaba to
a worthy cause called Project Buchanan.

Project Buchanan is a concerted effort by
Pillar of Fire Missions to build a new school complex
in Buchanan, Liberia.

Education is one of the greatest gifts that can be given,
and we aim to help give that gift to the impoverished
children in Liberia.

In a country torn to shreds by civil war,
90% of Liberia’s people live below the poverty line
and 85% are unemployed.
 
Education of Liberia’s children is essential to creating
the promise of a brighter future.

By climbing the tallest volcano in Mexico,
we aspire to create awareness and generate the
finances necessary to send a construction crew to
Liberia in July 2010 to facilitate this building project.
